Ready for translation with google GOGGLES

Last December, Google launched Google Goggles, an application for Android devices that allowed users to search with photographs. Using the onboard camera, users could send a photo of something to Google and the search giant would analyze it and offer up the relevant search results. A nifty tool but overall, not something you'd think of as an essential feature of your phone.oday Google is making Goggles essential; the application can now translate foreign languages or text, making traveling to a new country a whole lot easier. If you've been to a country where English isn't the first language, you probably know what it's like to see a street sign and wonder, "Does this mean we're supposed to go this way, or we're not supposed to go this way?"

Well, wonder no more. All you have to do is point your phone at the sign, use the region of interest box to select the text and then snap the photo. If Google recognizes the text, it'll give you the option to translate. Google says Goggles can read English, French, Italian, German and Spanish (and translate to many more languages) so I tried it out briefly using the French on the back of a Lucky Charms box. Overall, I was disappointed with the results (only the word 'marshmallow' was translated), but I had better luck with the French on the 'Splinter Cell Conviction' box. However, again, it was only partially translated.
