AMD has said that it has received the first samples of its second Fusion design code-named Ontario. Ontario is aimed at netbooks, tablets and other low-power devices and AMD seems to be betting the farm on the design.
Ontario uses two x86 cores based on Bobcat micro-architecture, integrated DirectX 11-class graphics core and DDR3 memory controller. However it is actually a single-chip system-on-chip (SoC) device. According to the documents seen by X-bit labs the Ontario accelerated processing unit will be made using bulk 40nm process technology. Ontario seems to use a monolithic design produced at bulk 40nm node.

ASUS Eee Keyboard Unboxed
Although we recently reported that Amazon has the wireless ASUS Eee Keyboard up for pre-order at a meaty $599, apparently some outlets have already gotten their hands on the new netbook-in-a-keyboard device. Netbooknews felt the need to show the Internet that it has received one of the long-awaited devices, and has offered the sexy unboxing in the video above. While you can virtually smell its newness once the lid flies open, we really don't get to see this thing in action. however notice that the touchpad already has fingerprints on its surface--apparently this device was unpacked prior to the video's big revea.

Satellites Will Be Used to Catch You
Bad news for those with lead feet: Britain is testing a new type of speed camera that can track your average speed over long distances while mounted on satellites in space. Similar to radar guns used here on Earth, the cameras will combine plate reading technology with GPS, and will be able to cover a network of streets rather than just a straight line of detection.

Bluetooth 4.0 with 3 Modes
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) said Wednesday that Bluetooth 4.0 has been finalized, and will deliver both a boost in potential range and a new low-energy mode that could add the technology to watches, remote controls, and sensors using button-cell batteries. Although samples of 4.0 were shopped around in December 2009, the group expects to push the new version to manufacturers by the end of Q2 2010.
"Bluetooth v4.0 is like three specifications in one--Classic Bluetooth technology, Bluetooth low energy technology, and Bluetooth High Speed technology--all which can be combined or used separately in different devices according to their functionality," the group said in a press release.
