Catholic church recruit priests through Facebook

The Roman Catholic Church has decided that the only way to recruit priests these days is through Facebook. (Some other sites also come to mind. sub.ed.)

The church's popularity is at an all time low. With accusations that so called celibate priests have been fathering children and been involved child abuse scandals it has been hard to find young men interested in signing up. Now the church has set up a page on Facebook as part of a campaign to attract young people to the priesthood following decades of dwindling ordainments.

Google is now investing into renewable, green energy.

Last week Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz said that Google needs to be doing other things rather than just search. If working on two mobile operating systems along with a host of web apps wasn't enough, Google is now investing into renewable, green energy.
Google announced via its blog that it has invested $38.8 million into two wind farms that generate 169.5 megawatts of power, which is enough to power more than 55,000 homes.
And what's so special about this wind technology that caught Google's attention?

U.S. Treasury Sites Hacked

As a consumer and a taxpayer, it's assumed that government websites are the most secure in the nation. After all, if hackers can gain access and plant malware for viewers to download, then the nation really isn't that all secure on the cyber frontier, right? Unfortunately, that's apparently what has happened to three websites belonging to the U.S. Department of the Treasury. How safe and secure do you feel now?

External HDDwith Storage, Speaker, USB

Yanko Design features an interesting creation--built for gadget manufacturer LaCie--by Andrew Seunghyen Kim called Monami (a play on the French words meaning "My Friend"). This special set consists of a LaCie external hard drive, a unique mouse, and a USB stick crammed into one package. If that's not enough, it also sports 4 USB ports (one of which is mounted on the top), and a 3-inch wide-range speaker to "enhance a laptop's audio."
Monami's HDD offers a storage capacity of 2TB. There's a strange, circular leather patch mounted just above the drive's white outer hull, and will stretch upwards into a wave-like form "representing the ideas held inside the HDD." The leather wave mound is also magnetic, allowing users to ugly-up the device by pouring on paper clips.

Tuesday AMD said that its new ATI FirePro RG220 is an ideal solution for IT administrators looking to reduce local power consumption and cooling costs per workstation. This is accomplished by installing the graphics card in a datacenter, and allowing users to connect to the ATI GPU across the network thanks to the FirePro's built-in PCoIP (PC-over-IP) technology.
The card itself consumes a maximum of 35 watts thanks to a passive cooling design, and measures just half the length of a standard PCI card and uses only one slot. The enterprise-based graphics card also sports a meager 512 MB of on-board memory, support for DirectX 10.1, OpenGL 2.1, and Parallels Workstation Extreme.

Apple Could Face Antitrust Probe

The New York Post cites a person familiar with the matter who says the Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission are locked in negotiations over who will launch an antitrust inquiry into Apple's new policy. The two regulatory bodies are said to be days away from making a decision.
Bloomberg reports that the discussions were prompted by a complaint from Adobe, a company that is affected by the new policy and one that has been caught up in a bitter war of words with Apple of the last few weeks.

AMD Phenom II X3,X4 mobile are coming

Acer is coming with Aspire 5553G, a 15.6-inch laptop based on AMD's quad-core Phenom II X4 N930. A few more listings of upcoming Acer models with the new Phenom and it turns out the new quad will also be featured in the 17-inch Aspire 7551G.However, it also appears that Acer will also introduce a three-core part on new Aspire models, both in the 17-inch and 15.6-inch flavor. The Phenom X3 N830 is clocked at 2.1GHz and it should end up a bit cheaper than the quad. It will be featured alongside HD 5470 graphics in both the Aspire 7551G and 5551G, but on the upside tri-core models will end up around €100 cheaper.Although AMD's mobile quads and tri-cores are unlikely to match the performance delivered by Intel's 32nm quads, it's worth noting that the price difference is staggering. Judging by these early listings, laptops based on AMD quads will end up around €150 cheaper than similar models powered by Intel's entry level Core i7 parts. As for the tri-cores, they sound like an equally good deal, as they will probably be available in the €600 to €700 price range.
