All versions of Mafia II will feature Nvidia's PhysX technology

2K Games has announced that all versions of Mafia II will feature Nvidia's PhysX technology to bring an extra dose of realism to the mob underworld.

The game will be based on 2K Czech's Illusion Engine and in addition to PhysX it will also use Nvidia's APEX Clothing Module to make pin stripe suits and silk shirts look just as good as in the Godfather.

price of chips raising because of Gold

The fluctuating price of gold has forced chip packaging houses to jack up their prices.

ASE has started raising its prices for new products and contracts and SPIL is expected to follow. According to Digitimes chip packagers are speeding up their transition to copper wire processes to avoid needing to use so much gold in their products. However high gold prices are eating into their bottom lines.

BFG said no more graphic cards

BFG Technologies is calling it quits and pulling out of the graphics market. The US-based company was founded in 2002 and it made a name for itself flogging premium Nvidia cards.

Seagate coming with hybrid drives

A few years back Samsung pioneered the hybrid hard drive concept, but the idea failed to catch on with OEMs and consumers alike. However, the concept seems sound, and Seagate seems eager to give it another go. The company has prepared a new series of hybrid drives and this time around they sound a bit more tempting than a couple of years back.
