HTC EVO 4G Launching date

Last week there were some reports that EVO 4G on June 6 with a pricetag of $200. It seems those reports were half right, while the device will be launching for $199, the smartphone is going to hit shelves just a smidgen earlier than June 6.

Sprint yesterday announced that 'America's First 4G Phone' will debut on June 4, retailing for $199 on a two-year contract. However, that's not really the most interesting part of the press release. First off, Sprint is promising voice and data or talk and surf in locations where WiFi and 3G are both present. This is a nice little surprise as it is something the company was a little nervous about promising before. There's also the ability to add mobile hotspot capability for up to eight devices for $29.99 per month. Also, those of you who choose to get yourselves an EVO 4G will be paying a $10 "Premium Data Add-on" fee to Sprint every month (presumably because you'll be enjoying WiMAX when you're near a tower).
To recap on specs for those of you who don't remember, the EVO 4G boasts a 1GHz Snapdragon processor;an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and 720p video capabilities, as well as a forward-facing, 1.3-megapixel camera for video conferencing; a 4.3-inch WVGA display and Android 2.1.
Folks who wish not to be restrained by the shackles of a two-year contract can grab the phone off contract for $450. That's $150 cheaper than previous reports indicated.source
